The weather is heating up, Christmas is drawing near, and this week in my life:
- I started learning to sew
I little while ago, I posted that I had purchased a number of simple vintage-style patterns with which to learn to sew. For Christmas, my parents have purchased me a sewing machine of my own, and given it to me early so that mum could start teaching me to sew. Using Vogue’s “easy” pattern V8980 for a circle skirt, I spent time yesterday and today cutting out the fabric, setting up the machine, and sewing pleats, hems and zippers.
- I decided to try contouring
I’ve held out against the contouring trend, having felt that it wasn’t worthwhile adding another step into my makeup routine. But yesterday at Aldi I was able to pick up a simple contouring palette for AU$7, so I decided to buy it and give it a go. At worst, I’ll look silly for a day and be down seven bucks. At best, I’ll look nice and be happy to continue using it.
- I put together a flatpack metal trolley and it didn’t fall apart
My craft stuff for my photo album has been sitting on the floor and desk of my office for months, driving me a little nuts by the fact that it’s a mess and that I have to sit on the floor in the office in order to actually use it. Yesterday I got this neat little craft trolley on wheels in which to store all the various craft things that have taken over my floor space. I put it together last night while watching a movie on TV and I’m happy to report that it has not yet fallen apart.
- I started actually using Instagram
I joined a while ago but barely used it, but I recently started getting into the swing of it. You can find me as vera_gin_vintage if you’d like to see what I post.
What did you get up to this week? Do you sew any of your own clothes?
I love using instagram, I’ve been using it for a couple of years now. Following all the lovely ladies on insta has help me a lot with tips etc for dressing pinup/vintage style!
