Due to being away, it’s been a while since my last Pretty Things List. So let’s kick this one off with some lippy goodness!
One of the newest brooches to my collection is one that I just couldn’t go past once I saw it – a sparkly ode to red lipstick fans everywhere, this lips brooch from Atomic Lucite is perfection. With a hint of white glimmering teeth peeking out from between parted red lips, it is sexy and fun at the same time. The brooch is about 5cm across, making it perfect for delicate necklines or for pairing with the lipstick brooch mentioned below in a brooch cluster. You can purchase this brooch by messaging the Atomic Lucite girls on their Facebook page. From memory, the lips brooch was about US$12/AU$15 – just ask the girls ,via Facebook, for a quote.
The Phoebe dress is one of Lady Vintage London’s longstanding sell-out styles, for good reason. With an invisible zip at the back, a wide scooped neckline and a full 50s skirt with built in petticoat, it’s a great dress to add to your collection. And the pattern to choose? Sweet Red Lips, of course. With red lips on a cream background, this pattern stands out for all the right reasons and is a perfect match for your Atomic Lucite lips brooch. The Phoebe was 55 British Pounds but is now on sale for 27.50 British Pounds (or about AU$51).
Need a red lipstick of your very own? Try my personal go-to, Maybelline’s Superstay 14HR lipstick in Ravishing Rouge. It is a one-step, long-wearing formulation in a great, true-red shade that particularly flatters pinky, rosacea-prone skin like mine. And it’s a comparitively cheap way to buy an everyday lipstick, at just AU$19.95 from Priceline.
My latest great idea is to cluster my Atomic Lucite red lips brooch with this fantastic lipstick brooch from Erstwilder! The Lip Service brooch was first released last year as part of their Beauty School range, and has been re-released recently in a new colourway. I own the original colourway, and have the new colourway on layby – yes, I love this brooch enough to own both colourways! Lip Service is available from Erstwilder’s Australian website for AU$34.95.
I’m not really one for nail art, because my current job ruins any sort of polish in a matter of minutes, but when I came across these cute Smooch nail decals on Etsy, I knew I wanted them. At just AU$5.36 for a pack of twenty decals (5 each of red, pink, nude and black), they’re affordable enough that I’m willing to try them out, and simple enough to apply that I won’t get frustrated with them.
Which lip-themed item is your favourite? Do you match your lipstick to your outfit?
I love my red lippies.
