Recently I was able to get my hands on three skirts from Bonsai Kitten, via Aussie online retailer Your One Stop Pinup Shop. In addition to the magenta skirt featured here, I purchased a teal, and a red tartan colourway.
These skirts are designed by YOSPS’s owner, Bek, and are produced exclusively for her shop. Falling to an inch below the knee on my 5’2″/158cm tall frame, these circle skirts fasten with a back zipper and a single large button that fastens into a fabric loop, allowing you to move the button to slightly customise the fit of the waistband.
Made of 100% cotton, these skirts are lightweight and unlined, making them perfect for Queensland summers – and winters!
With plenty of room underneath for a short petticoat (I wore a Spin Dance Australia pink petticoat for these photos), these skirts are a great staple piece.
I found that if I hung my skirts to dry on the Hills Hoist immediately after washing, there was no need to iron, which is a great time saver.
If you’re interested in purchasing one for yourself, the original-run skirts are currently on sale for AU$55 and are still available in limited sizes in navy, black, red, red tartan, green tartan, magenta, and teal. In these photos, I’m wearing a size 16.
The new-run skirts, featuring a slightly longer length and the addition of pockets, retail for AU$95 in a range of colours.
For these photos, I paired my magenta skirt with a Pinup Girl Clothing vamp top, Rivers shoes, Your One Stop Pinup Shop watermelon necklace, and a belt from ebay store Pretty in Pinup.
