Recently I reviewed the Pinup Girl Clothing “Ava” swing dress in dark blue. The other outfit that I photographed while visiting Miss Milla Cherry was this: the Bernie Dexter “Frenchie” dress in cabbage roses print.
The Frenchie was inspired by Bernie Dexter’s visits to France. It features a gathered shelf bust and a moderately full skirt that falls to an inch or so below knee length on me (I’m 5’2″/158cm tall).
The dress is 100% cotton, and is a perfect weight for wearing in Australian summers.
Made in the USA, this dress has halterneck tie straps, allowing you to adjust it to suit your own torso length.
The Frenchie fastens with a zip up the centre back. It also features small pockets in the side seams that are just the right size for a lipstick or small mirror.
I’m wearing a size 2XL, which caters for a 44inch bust and a 36 inch waist. Be aware that this dress really has no stretch, so make sure you take your measurements carefully.
Bernie Dexter dresses are available in sizes XS to 4XL, catering for busts from 32 to 50 inches, and waists from 24 to 41 inches.
The Frenchie is currently available in an Eiffel Tower print for US$156 (approximately AU$202 at current rates).
For these photos, I paired my Frenchie dress with BAIT’s “Bloom” heels in pink; a black short petticoat from Legs Avenue; a vintage pink hat from Cassie’s Corner; an Erstwilder brooch; green vintage gloves bought in Edinburgh; and black beads found at an op shop in Brisbane.
These photos were taken at two parks within Maryborough, Queensland.
