I know that in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s currently winter, with all the short days, cold nights and winter woollies that that involves. But here in Queensland, it’s early summer, with 33 degree Celsius days and warm, humid nights. It’s a time for swimming at the beach and ice cream at the end of a long day. So this pretty list is focusing on beachside pretties.
First, we have this cute ice cream brooch from Australian company Deer Arrow. Priced at AU$19, it is hand painted and comes in two colour combinations.
If you’re after a retro inspired swimsuit (“togs” to those of us in Queensland), you can try Australian retailer Ms Katt’s Kustom House, where you can find such beauties as this size 16 nautical one piece, for AU$169.95, and this retro two piece in sizes 10 – 16, for AU$115.
Or if you’re willing to accept the low Aussie dollar and pay for international shipping, Pinup Girl Clothing has a vast range of swimsuits in sizes XS-4XL including the ruched Marilyn swimsuit in a variety of colours for US$102 and the Glamour swimsuit in several colours, for US$96.
When you’re at the beach, you need mermaid-worthy hair, which is where The Pinup Gal and Soda Sweethearts come in. Australian made, Soda Sweethearts’ tropical seashell and flower hair pieces are available from Aussie retailer The Pinup Gal for just AU$28 each.
If you’re after a new beach towel for the summer, Target Australia has some cheap but nice options, including this fringed Tropicana palm-frond-print towel for just AU$20. I love the teal and blue colours and think it’s surprisingly sophisticated for the price.
You’ll need a cool, summery dress to wear over your swimsuit, and you can’t get better than this tropical Hell Bunny mini dress. With a print of palm fronds, ginger blossom and hibiscus on a black background, it’s available in sizes XS – XL at Atomic Cherry for AU$49.
Finally, to finish off your beachside outfit, why not pick up this seahorse necklace from Your One Stop Pinup Shop? Available in blue on red, pink on black, and red on black, it retails at this Aussie shop for AU$22.
What’s your favourite seaside accessory? Do you have a whole drawer of swimsuits, or just one absolute favourite?
