Item Review: Deadly Dames “Vamp” Top in Tiger Print

I was recently fortunate enough to snag the Vamp top in tiger print secondhand on a Facebook buy/swap/sell page.  I was pretty excited to get my hands on it because I’ve long admired the cut of the bustline and the myriad patterns in which it is available.

November 29b

The Vamp top is produced under the brand Deadly Dames and sold by Pinup Girl Clothing.  Available in prints and plain colours such as black, white, zebra print, leopard print, and red with black polka dots, the Vamp style is also available as a wiggle dress and as a bikini set.

The Vamp has a foldover sweetheart bustline, with a crossover feature at the centre.

The Vamp top has adjustable, wide straps that sit comfortably on the shoulders.  To enhance fit, the upper edge of the back of the top is elasticated for comfort.  Like many Deadly Dames and Pinup Girl Clothing tops, the Vamp has a colour-coordinated, “bottom up” zipper in the centre back for ease of getting it on and off.  This zipper is closed by pulling the tab from top to bottom, and is easy to do up and undo by yourself without help.

The cups of the bodice are self-lined, allowing less busty girls to go bra-less, and providing shape and support for those of us who have to wear a bra with all tops.  I paired my Vamp with a nude strapless bra from City Chic.

The Vamp comes to the upper hip on me, making it long enough to wear out or tucked in.  A 97% cotton, 3% spandex blend, the fabric has a comfortable amount of stretch to it while still providing a firm shape to the wearer.

Retailing for US$58 (which is approximately AU$81 at today’s exchange rate), the Vamp is available in sizes XS – 4XL, with the XS fitting a 32-32.5 inch bust and a 24-25 inch waist, and the 4XL fitting a 52.5/53 inch bust and a 44-45.5 inch waist.  I’m wearing a size 2XL here, which fits well with a little room to spare.

The great thing about the Vamp is that it’s perfect to pair with high waisted jeans, a pair of capris, a sexy wiggle skirt, or a block coloured swing skirt.  This versatility means the Vamp is a great addition to your wardrobe.

For this photo shoot, I paired my Vamp top with a black swing skirt by Collectif; a tropical hair flower from Your One Stop Pinup Shop; a tropical brooch from Luxulite; my new Mai Tai necklace from Erstwilder; a Hell Bunny belt; and my Red Ginger patent leather heels.
