This Week in my Life… 23-29 November 2015

  • I took advantage of the American-led “Black Friday” sales to purchase some beautiful dresses from Lindy Bop

Lindy Bop is a UK company that specialises in vintage-inspired clothing at an affordable price.  They’re particularly well known for 40s and 50s silhouettes in both swing and wiggle styles, including dresses and separates.  With bright, fun colours and patterns, Lindy Bop is a great brand for those just beginning their pinup journey, or for the seasoned pinup girl who likes a bargain.  Their Black Friday sale was great for several reasons: their website has the option to show prices in Australian dollars; they had a heap of dresses on sale for just $30-$40 AU dollars; their shipping (unlike many overseas websites) is very reasonable at just AU$18 for a whole pile of clothes.

  • I worked every day and ended up with a bad head cold and a very sore neck and back

I’m so grateful to have my part-time job, but this week it really wore me down.  In the lead up to Christmas, we’ve been getting busier, and I worked a lot of hours this week.  With my dodgy immune system, that led to me getting run down and getting a cold, complete with fever and neck and back aches.  Not cool!

  • I sold several items of clothing on Facebook buy/swap pages

I try to make it a rule that I can only buy new clothes using money earned by selling my old/brand new but never worn pinup items online.  This week I managed to sell three items on Facebook, which allowed me to have my little shopping spree on Lindy Bop!

  • I finished watching season one of The Strain

My friend Alex got me into watching this, and I thank her here and now!  It’s a great show about a parastitic disease that manifests as vampirism, and is very watchable.  I can’t wait to see season two!

  • I got a heap of washing done

This might not sound like much, but getting simple chores and activities done can be very difficult with my ongoing mental illness issues.  So I felt a little proud of myself this week when I not only got a lot of washing done, but also managed to get it off the line and put away!  A small victory, but a victory nonetheless 🙂

  • I received a package from Erstwilder

I was fortunate enough to be given a discount code for Erstwilder’s website, which I used to purchase a couple of items that I’ve been wanting – and I also received the limited edition Christmas reindeer brooch as a gift with purchase, which was a nice bonus.  Expect to see these items pop up in my weekly wardrobe posts!

  • I’m meeting a friend tomorrow to take blog photos in my town’s lovely Botanical Gardens

The gorgeous Miss Milla Cherry is visiting town this weekend, and we’ve arranged to go and take some blog photos at the local Botanical Gardens, which should be a nice afternoon out.  You can check out Miss Milla’s blog here.  One of the items I’ll be photographing for review will be the Pinup Girl Clothing/Deadly Dames tiger print Vamp top.
